About me

My father fled Iran after the 1979 Revolution. He fondly remembers the country where freedom of speech and of the press was sacrosanct, a far cry from today’s Iran. Growing up, I was taught that TV and news reporters were heroes, working to preserve our fragile American experiment. That’s where the idea for SFLF originated. My name is Lili Samii, and I am working to advocate for a press across the globe. I am currently a junior at the Trinity School of New York and an interest of mine includes languages. I am fluent in both German and English and proficient in Farsi and French.
